In the interest of not waiting for our dreams to happen, Jeremy and I recently executed another one of our “plans.” Because we dream of being able to take off and discover the many hidden gems in our state and country, we decided to start by exploring yet another back road.
The picnic got packed, the tank got filled, Roxy took her position in the back seat of the truck, and off we went, in search of another mountain lake.
We ventured into the mountains to an out of the way Idaho reservoir, where I spotted an eagle having a bit of lunch.
From there, we climbed up a US Forest Service road to the top of the world, until we arrived at Trinity Lake, a beautiful little alpine lake in the Boise National Forest.
If you look closely, or zoom in, you’ll see the cow moose having a little salad lunch in the shoreline waters on the other side!
I tried to take a selfie with the moose, but missed the moose entirely! What can I say…the sun was in my eyes! We had a nice lunch and enjoyed the afternoon, but sadly we needed to start the trip back to avoid traveling down steep mountain roads in the dark.
Jeremy is so patient with me each time I yell, “Stop!” because I’ve spotted some kind of eye candy like this splashy little creek in the afternoon sun.
It was a step in the right direction, not waiting for every little detail in order to pursue our dreams. But it made us even more determined to move the plan forward. If we had been in our dream travel van, we would have been able to stay longer and travel farther from home. How delicious it will be to pull out the chairs, pop a bottle of wine and view the stars from a location such as this.
Needless to say, we now have multiple salesmen hunting for the travel van which meets our specific requirements, and I’ve spent way too much time on line researching. We’re getting close to pulling the trigger. Stay tuned!
An Encore Voyage 
I hope you find your perfect ride soon. It sounds da delightful not having to rush back anywhere before dark or traffic or whatever. Nice pics. I saw the moose. He’s real.

He was real! And we are really getting anxious to get out more before we get too old and creaky! We’re torn about what constitutes the perfect ride. Not too big, really just a very fancy tent, I’m thinking!

Excellent test drive of your dream! Idaho is so beautiful! The last time I was there I didn’t see a moose or an eagle… gotta go back!

I love the phrase “A step in the right direction”. It’s what I need to hear and start to do myself.
It took me 3 times to get a moose on film (fun stories for the 2 misses). I can see your’s even without a zoom!

The day we were there, people were out in in kayaks, getting a bit too close, in our opinion. Jeremy said, “Pretty soon, she’s gonna get mad and do some ‘mud stompin’!”

This is my first time here and I love the outdoors that you have and I love that you love it to stop and pause and enjoy! Today, in my place, it’s a day of playful breezes and hide-and-seek- sun. It’s a day that I should be outdoors too enjoying the wind and dance of flowers.
And so I will.

Nothing makes our Roxy dog go into “wiggle mode” faster than saying, “You wanna go for a ride?” She’s quite the little traveler!

Some of the US Forest Service roads we go on involve more “crawling through” than driving. It’s slow going, but worth every second! We’re not in a hurry! ~ Lynn

That you can just pick up and travel off to places near and far sparks a bit of envy in me, Lynn! We do manage to have some fun…I love road trips! Hubby is trying to decide on his next truck (Ford F150 with good tow package, etc) so we can pull our new travel trailer around after we move it out of the delta for our windsurf weekends. Good luck on your search for the RV, there are some amazing ones out there!

I love the photos, the moose, the views, and especially that last line of your post, Lynn. I am staying tuned! As we are now doing exactly what you describe in your second to last paragraph… Well, we try anyway, because even with the right van, the most tasty bottle of wine, and the most beautiful lake, the spirit has to be there, and all the stress needs to disappear. It’s not as easy as it sounds to relax, take in the views and enjoy the camping life… By the way, where in Idaho do you live?
PS: The lake experience I mention above is Antero Reservoir in Colorado, and the sunset was beautiful. 🙂

We are in Boise. If you drive through the southern part of the state, you might think Idaho is all desert. But just head a bit north and you’re in some of the country’s most beautiful mountains. Lots of space to breathe deeply and set some of that stress free! ~ Lynn
