Tips for Future Retirees

Happy Sunday, Voyagers!  Do you remember back a couple of months ago I asked you to ponder the following question?

What is the one piece of advice
you wish someone had given you
prior to your retirement?

Our retirement blogger community rose to the occasion and provided me with a wealth of suggestions.  Happily for me, I have been asked once again to guest post for Donna over at Retirement Reflections.  So I figured this was perfect opportunity to share the list I (um…..you all) put together.  So hop on over to Retirement Reflections and take a peek!  I’m excited to see what you think!  You’re the experts!

Lynn

For some reason I couldn’t comment on Donna’s site, so I’ll do it here instead. It’s about time someone culled all the best nuggets of knowledge from our collective works. Careful, Lynn, you’ve done such a good job you may be editing the book we all jointly write. 🙂 Great post, and now a really helpful starting point for people newly retired or those pondering it. – Marty

Sorry about that, Marty. In the past few days, my site has been once again glancing at the road down to ‘Blogging Hell’. In trying to remedy a few issues, I accidentally disabled the comment feature for Lynn’s post. (I wondered why there were no comments yet.) The good news is that a ‘Free WordPress Help Desk Meet Up’ has just begun in our area and I believe that the errors on my site have now been corrected (she says with confidence). A comment just came through on my site for Lynn’s post (from Joanne), so I believe all is now well.
BTW – I totally agree that we should all jointly write that book… I also agree that Lynn would be a great editor!

Thanks, Marty – A medal would be nice! I’m really not sure why I did not ‘throw in the towel’ long ago and just switch to Free WP. Foolish stubbornness, A ‘Polyanna-like belief’ that all will be well as soon as I fix that one little problem…..Truly, it’s hard to tell! 🙂

After we retired and set out on the road to explore America, there is just one thing that we wish we would NOT have done. A bunch of slick salespeople sold us on a timeshare in BlueGreen Resorts. If you are staying in a big resort chain and they offer you cash or credits to listen to a sales presentation, DO NOT DO IT!!! These are costly swindles and you will never get your money’s worth.

I am soooo sorry that happened to you! We just stayed at a Wyndham resort with a friend who had a Timeshare there. That thing is ridiculously expensive, can’t necessarily be used when they want it (without about a year’s prior planning), and there’s NO WAY OUT!

Hi, Lynn – Thank you for another terrific Guest Post. My apologies again for accidentally having the comment feature disengaged. It is now up and running. My site stats already show that this is a very popular post. Awesome topic!

I’m not sure where to comment…so I’ll do both!

thanks so much for the shout-out! I loved how you synthesized it all down.

I even tried posting to my social media…FB. New skill for me.
